+ Baylor Sigma Chi History
Sigma Chi was founded in 1855 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio by seven men who based the Fraternity on the virtues and high ideals for which all initiated members constantly strive to achieve. Sigma Chi is a brotherhood with roots in the collegiate experience that engenders a lifelong commitment to pursuing the achievement of true friendship, equal justice and the fulfillment of learning as part of our overall responsibilities to the broader communities in which we live. The fundamental purpose of the Sigma Chi Fraternity is the cultivation, maintenance, and accomplishment of the ideals of friendship, justice, and learning within our membership. As Sigma Chi’s we strive for excellence in everything we participate. Our excellence is showcased by our continuing dominance within our activities: intramurals, Homecoming Float, All-University Sing, and our devotion to community service. We pride ourselves in our ability to have fun and enhance the college experience, while at the same time bettering each other as men. The Eta Omega chapter of Sigma Chi gives members a chance to experience all aspects of Greek life, and in the process, make friendships that will last a lifetime.
